Research suggests that artmaking offers opportunities for calming, focus, connection, and increasing a sense of wellbeing. Our arts-based workshop program invites victim-survivors and allies to come together to make art to build connections with others, with life-long learning and community service partners, and to rebuild confidence. Some of the visual artwork elements throughout this website were drawn by participants who have not practised art since childhood. Our programs focus on the spark of creativity that is uniquely yours. As lifelong learners, the program challenges you to consider creativity in a new light. You will learn about different materials and techniques, but will always be encouraged to engage in a way that interests you. The Reclaiming My Place program was first established in 2016. It is an 8 week arts-based program for victim-survivors and allies, including those working in the domestic, family and sexual violence sector. Each program ends with an exhibition of the participant-artists work. Scroll down to view exhibition archives. In 2025, we have received funding through the Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network to expand the program locations and to connect with the health sector in our region.
